Brink Forest Products Ltd. has achieved an international quality management
certification, among the first in the value-added forest sector in B.C. to do
so. The ISO 9001 certification is an internationally-recognized quality management
program and a widely-accepted benchmark of a company's commitment to ensuring
quality in products and services. Prince George companies like Northern Steel
and Pacific Western Brewing have also achieved a similar ISO certification.
``Our customers, wherever they are in the world, now have independent third-party
assurance that our products are consistently of high standard,'' said John Brink,
president and owner of the 25-year-old secondary wood manufacturing company.
``Achieving certification is a credit to the excellent work of a dedicated group
of employees.''
The BDC Consulting Group was retained as a consultant by Brink during the 11-month
ISO 9001 implementation.
``While B.C. has been slower than other parts of Canada to recognize the benefits
of ISO, the demand for certification from the global marketplace is increasingly
becoming a requirement for doing business,'' said BDC manager Renata King. ``Achieving
ISO certification is no small task, so we congratulate John and his team for
their vision and commitment to making Brink Forest Products a leader in their
industry.''
Brink Forest Products Ltd. produces a range of structural, industrial and value-added
wood products for local and international markets. The company started operations
in the CNR industrial site in 1976 and now employs about 50 people.
